Prior to co-founding The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center, Catherine worked in the television industry in New York City for 15 years, contributing over 600 hours of content for broadcasting. As an editor, post-production superviser, producer, shooter, writer and director, she worked on all aspects of production; the creative, technical and business sides.
Her work on documentaries, newsmagazine series, live-to-tape talk shows and narrative dramas have been broadcast on HBO, PBS, CNN, FOX, UK’s Channel Four, Discovery and Hallmark Channels, and locally on Long Island’s Verizon FiOS-1. In 1999 she received an Emmy Award Honor for assistant editing contribution on the feature documentary Lenny Bruce: Swear To Tell the Truth, narrated by Robert DeNiro (HBO Films).
Ms. Oberg received her B.F.A from The Kanbar Institue for Film and Television Production at NYU’s Tisch School Of the Arts. She is currently pursuing Advanced Certificates in Development & Fundraising and Non-Profit Management, from the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development at Molloy College. Catherine is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Motion Pictures Editor’s Guild. As an educator she has been teaching editing at the School Of Visual Arts and at NYU’s School Of Continuing Education in New York City.
