Pope Francis embarks on a personal journey to present his work of reform and answer today's global questions from his deep concern for the poor and wealth inequality to his involvement in environmental issues, social justice, and calls for peace. Director Wim Wenders blends intimate conversations and interviews with Pope Francis’s public outings in which he captivates large, diverse crowds. In 2014 Wenders received a letter from the Vatican asking him to lead the film project, and he was ultimately given final cut privilege on the movie’s release. The film premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
Thomas Petriano, Ph.D. teaches Religious Studies and is chair of the Religious Studies Department of St. Joseph’s College, Patchogue, NY. He teaches courses on the Patchogue and Brooklyn campuses.
Cristian Murphy serves as the Director of Campus Ministry and adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s College. Along with his role as Campus Minister, Cristian is an avid filmmaker and lover of film. Cristian’s experience in documentary film has led him to the opportunity to form an independent film company built on telling faithful stories that can inspire others. Film and Theology are two of the most exciting elements of Cristian’s work thus making the Pope Francis Doc one of his favorite films of the year. He is incredibly excited and grateful to share this film experience with others
